Well you could try this:
Wind down driver side window. Lock car with remote. Check indicator stalk is flashing red. Wave arm through window in front of motion sensor. Should work.

I was thinking about testing the alarm on my R56 yesterday! I tried the 'panic button' mentioned in the manual, but that didn't work! I did try reaching inside the car with the windows open to try opening the door, but that didn;t do it either!

Any other suggestions to set off the alarm? Normally the problem with car alarms is getting them to stop!

you could always get in your car, lock it with the remote and then wait 30 seconds or whatever it is for the motion sensors to settle - then just get jiggy so you set it off

Leave window down and pull the door handle on the inside, this too will set it off.

I set my alarm and unlocked and opened the door using the manual key and the alarm went off on my R56

if you don't know how to test your alarm...... then the easiest way is to lock up the car with the remote, wait 60 seconds to allow the system to settle, than smash a window with a brick or something.......if working properly the alarm should then go off.
