Offline | Professional detailing? Hi all, I've recently begun to think about maybe having the MINI professionally detailed. The main reason being that it has swirl marks all over the car. Being black the problem is really obvious in bright sunlight or under garage lighting when filling up with fuel. Since I have owned it I have washed it with a lambswool mitt and dried it with a proper drying towel, so I presume they must have been done by the previous owner who owned it from new for 5 months before me. ![]() I'm just wandering if anyone has had this done, and roughly how much it would cost to get the paintwork looking like new again? Regards, James. |

Offline | Hiya, Getting your car properly corrected and detailed by a pro is money well spent as it can add value if the paint is bad. There are lots of different companies and individuals out there who will happily take your money. However I personally don't think the industry is regulated in any way which means the job is only as good as the person doing the work. The best thing to do is ask people in your area or on the forum for a recommended company. The good guys will offer a free assessment and will happily show you pics of their work. Try and find a detailer that uses and knows what to do with a Paint depth gauge. This will ensure that they are not polishing away all your clear coat...... In terms of cost you are looking at £200 min u to well the sky is the limit in some cases! Where are you based? |

Offline | Best place to start is A world for detailers... - you'll find lots of helpful people and a wealth of information. As Cooper"S" has already said, it would be money well spent. :-) |

| MINI2 Regular | Hi James, You've got South Lakes in your profile so i presume that means North East Region? There are a couple of good detailers in your area that i can think of, Iain @ Finer Details and Off Your Marks Detailing. Both are very good and both authorised by high end wax companies (FinerDetails - Swissvax, OYM - Zymol) As for cost you'd be looking at between £150 and £250. Both would give you a superior finish that will be easy to maintain. Welcome to Finer Details Ltd OFF YOUR MARKS | HOME - Car Detailing Polishing Cleaning Prestige Detailing Zymol Cheshire |

Offline | Thanks for the replies guys! I think I'll let the worst of the winter weather pass and then have a serious think about getting it done. Once you have something like this done do you then need to maintain the paint work with any particular products to avoid further swirling? James. |
