Service Indicator counting down very fast ?

Just had the 02 Mini Cooper have its TLC oil service and Brake fluid service on Saturday..

When I left BMW the service indicator indicated 15,500 miles to inspection service.

When I got home 10 miles later it was showing 15,000 miles and then after another 3 miles it showed 14,975 miles to service and today I did 1 mile in it and its now showing 14,500 miles left to a service, all in we've done exactly 28 miles and the service indicator has come down 100 miles ??...

I know its on the way you drive the car etc, but I never thrash my car so i don't get it....I'm going to call them in the morning....anyone else had this happen.....

yea mine does it too, it also goes on how many start ups and length of journeys. Its normal for it to go down that much so don't worry.

I drive my car quite hard and if anything it takes longer that the indicator says to come down!

No 1000kms in 28 is not normal, otherwise what is the point!?

OH MY OH MY! I own a Sidewalk!Almost.........

You can always reset the counter!!!

Here is how to reset the oil service light:

1) Press and hold the trip button
2) Insert key and turn to position 1
3) Watch for RESET to appear
4) Release the button, then press & hold it again
5) Wait for the RESET to flash
6) Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
7) Service interval should then be reset to next interval

I havent tried this - but have copied and pasted from a website!!
