Scratches on my car, have I been told the right thing?

I took my car to my local dealer yesterday to book it in to get some things sorted on it, and also wanted them to have a look at some scratches on the boot and the bonnet to see how much it would cost to get them fixed. The guy who came out to have a look at the scratches told me he would send me the quote in the post and then said what they should be able to do. He said that they would need to remove my viper stripes to fix both the scratches on the boot and also the one on the bonnet. All 3 scratches are no where near the vipers so can't really understand the need to remove them. He also said that I would have to pay to have new ones fitted again!! That can't be right can it??? He then also said that they would need to remove the Cooper badge as one of the scratches is near it, and again I would have to pay for a new one!

Has any one with either viper or bonnet stripes and scratches on either the bonnet or the boot had this before? I thought it was just a case of touching up the paint work, maybe I'm wrong, but to me, what I was told doesn't seem quite right!

suspect they looking at redoing the entire panel in stead of touching up

can you post some pics of the scratches so we can see how bad they are, they may polish out or be touch upable

I have these 2 of the 2 scratches on the boot but I don't have a pic of the one on the bonnet - too dark to get one now..

There looking to spray the pannel so no there not lying, an are going to do the job by the book, as others have suggested companies like chips away could be able to sort it with localised repairs, but beware there are some cow boys doing them

Aw your poor car. What a vicious scratch! B***tards!

They aren't too deep maybe like others have suggested chips away polishing them out instead of spraying the whole panel.

Good Luck!

the marks that have been left look like when someone has washed the car they had grit in the mitt/sponge

they dont look bad at all = seems just surface paint is damaged

id give autoglym polish n similar products a try before asking BMW - they will milk u like a fat cow!

No I'd let them spray the whole panel. Patch up jobs never look the same, bet there done that.
