Talking New Fanbelt - How much?

Hey Foks,

Just wondering if anybody knew how much a new fanbelt would cost for my 2002 Cooper, and where I can purchase a cheap one from!?

Does anybody know how hard it would be to replace?

Thanks
KEL

I'm getting a kind of light whistling sound constantly, i think it gets louder the longer the engines been running (would make sense if it was the fanbelt, however i might just be a=imagining its get worse the longer its runs, because i'm paying attention to it!)
I'm not sure if it is loose, but at only £7, it might be worth changing it to see what happens!!

There is only one slight problem The mini does NOT have a fan belt It has an electric driven fan The belt you are refering to drives the water pump/ alternator

this is what mines meant to be..

BMW have said this is the alternator belt. Which might explain maybe why my battery went dead a few months ago due to me using the radio for a bit while cleaning her. From memory BMW have said this is approximately £136 inc vat/fitting/part as I think they said its worn to much to tighten up.

You cannot tighten it. It has a self adjusting tensioner . So you will have to have it changed. Sorry not sure what the cost would be.
