Xenon Light Advice - MINI Cooper Forum

Hello I'm looking for any tips or info on replacing a xexon igniter unit. The O/S Xenon on my Cooper S has stopped working recently I know it's not the bulb and have checked all the connections. I've managed to get two xenon headlight units quite cheap from a wrecked cooper s and plan to swap the controller unit out of one into mine. Has any one here done this before and can give me some advice. I do plan to disconnect the battery

PS If anyone wants a controller unit or a D2R bulb for a reasonable price let me know as they are surplus to requirements.

D2r or D2s?

Is the igniter not located behind the cluster and you can swapthem across?

Hello and thanks a lot for your reply they are D2R bulbs as mine is a 2002. OK I thought it looked quite simple but I just wanted to make sure there was nothing I had to watch out for.

Hi, have you still got that controller unit? I'm in need of one myself! Did the swap solve your problem with the xenons? As I have the same problem on my 52 plate mini coop s, the passenger side flickers and goes off after 10 mins or so. I'm guessing its the ballast - the controller unit. How easy was yours to replace?

I have a problem with my xenon lights . My offside one sometimes fails to come on at times . It has been twice to the local main dealer but they are unable to find any fault . My cooper s is on a 03 plate - help? doesn't happen all the time

I have one Xenon headlamp that has not worked for months. I actually changed by lamp (at considerable expense), but that was not the problem. It worked intermittently for some time, but now not at all. My mechanic told me I needed an igniter, but when I did a search all I came up with is a controller. I figured they were the same thing, but when I read previous posts, I see that they appear to be different parts of the light assemblage. Can I get one without the other, or are they usually sold together?
