Rear number plate

The rear number plate on my 06 Cooper S has started to delaminate so am keen to replace it. Is the current number plate just on with double sided sticky tape or has it been attached using some far more ingenious method and if so how do I remove the plate?- sorry for such a simple question Many thanks in advance

As your car is not 3 years old your dealer should be able to do it all for you under warranty, Im curently on my 3rd back number plate since i got my car in 06 !

Yeah, get the dealer to replace it free of charge on a car that new.

But yes, it's held on with a double-sided foam stuff. If you were to do it yourself, don't use double-sided carpet tape. It'll be fine until the sun starts shining, at which point it will slide down the back of the car. I used the 3M double-sided foam stuff and it's held fine.
