MOT Query???

Tis a bit late to be posting this now as I have jst dropped my 05 Cooper in for its first MOT, but if anyone can put my mind at ease I'd very much appreciate it.
Mini's generally come with run-flat tyres and no spare so this wouldn't be checked for in an MOT would it(?), but if you change your wheels and tyres, from say 16 inch wheels with run-flats to 17 inch Cooper S wheels with Kumho non-run-flats, is it then necessary, by law, to either carry a spare tyre or a can of tyre filler? Will the car be deemed an MOT failure if I don't have a can of tyre filler?
Anyone who has experienced this problem or though of this too please feel free to reply as soon as so that my mind can be put at ease prior to the 'pass or fail' phone call!

Cheers
james

The spare tyre and wheel (or lack of) are not included in the list of testable items.

You don't, by law have to carry anything. The only speculation is that if you do carry a tyre, then it must be road legal

Woodyscooper is right. Nothing says you have to have one, or even a repair kit, or runflats. Only if you do it must be legal for it to be used on the road.

not sure if I should admit this,but......

speaking as a dreaded MOT tester, everyone is correct in saying that you do not need a spare wheel to pass a test.
depending on whether the individual tester notices that the spare is not present,he should advise the customer as appropriate.

if a spare wheel has an illegal tyre fitted,it is not a reason for rejection, but should warrant an advisory notice.

Something that may be worth checking. My breakdown cover has a penalty if I do not have a spare tyre or a servicable can of shaving foam tyre filler stuff.
