| GP 0380 | When do spark plugs, v belt get changed? So they should carry out an engine flush as part of my Inspection 1 then at 52,000 miles? Or should I mention it? As cars four in February. Its going in tomorrow for the inspection just wasnt sure which one. Whens the oil get changed then? ![]() |

Offline | Changing the V-belt is part of Inspection 2 Service. Spark Plugs and Oxygen Sensor are changed at 100K intervals. Inspection 1 & 2 Services include an oil change. On your MINI's 4th "birthday" it would be due its 1st coolant flush and 2nd brake fluid change. When was your last brake fluid change? Unless you want to take the car back in next month, it probably makes sense to have all these things done with your Inspection Service. |

| GP 0380 | Are you sure about that? So my oil should get changed at every inspection? Will take it in tomorrow and ask exactly what they are planning to do. Cause I'm pretty sure they arent planning to change my oil tomorrow. Edit Are you talking in miles or kilometres Miniac? ![]() |

Offline | Well I did, but even it isnt clear. Took car in today and the service advisor tells me the car is only due an oil change not an inspection 2. So when they argued it was due an inspection 2 on the fone, they were wrong. It seems our service intervals go Oil service Inspection 1 Oil Service Inspection 2 Oilservice Inspection 1 Oil service Inspection 2 |

Offline | As MINIAC says, and just to stress the point, these intervals are for the 1st gen MINI not the R56. The first service at all for the R56 is at about the 20K mile mark ![]() Global Moderator ![]() Last edited by MINIAC : Jan 15th, 2008 at 04:54 PM. Reason: fix quote |

This must be down to the on-board computer altering intervals? depending on the cars useage. Seems a bit odd tho to adjust the intervals to a point were its about 15k miles out or does that sound reasonable? ![]() |

Offline | Its all down to how the car is driven... if you managed to cover say 15k before it needed its first oil service, and then eaked anotth 5k out of every service you'll end up 15k in front ![]() My car on the other hand needed an oil service at 8k ![]() ![]() |

| GP 0380 | The car did do motorway miles, but it hasnt for a year n a half now, so its odd tha it should be extended so much, not like i drive like a granny. Just considering the likes of the poly belt, plugs, oil filter etc should be changed after 50,000 miles, wont get dont til to 70,000. ![]() |

Offline | Corrected my initial post to include Oil Services between Inspection Services ![]() When the Service Interval Counter was reset on my MCS following the initial Oil Service and Inspection 1 Service it read 15,500. Based on this I'm assuming there is a 15K interval between each of the services. The attached indicates that an oil change is included as part of an Inspection 1 or 2 Service. |

Offline | Yes, an oil change occurs at every service... Oil services are just an oil change and a new oil filter, the Inspection services includes more service items. The schedule I posted above was correct on my '04 Cooper Cabrio, sold with 57k on the clock ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Why are you shouting?? - using capital letters. Brake fluid change and service times are indepent of each other. Brake fluid is a count down of days from build or last change = 2 years Service is miles based with a computerised driving factor built in If you want to read fault codes yourself then I woyuld suggest that you buy a scangauge - do a search on here and you will find a few threads on scangauge. If you want to reset brake fluid / service indicator then again do a search and you will find a few threads on how to do it on first gen MINI In Italy |
