1st Service and Warranty inspection

Hi,
My mini is at 23,650 miles so can I arrange for it to go for its first inspection which is supposed to be at 25,000 miles, considering it is an april '05 car and has about 3,000 showing on the service indicator??
Also, as the warranty runs out in the next 3 months, can I then ask for it to be taken in before the warranty runs out for any work which may need to be carried out and which probably won't be carried out under the first inspection?? Will mini do this ok or can they refuse if there is nothing as such wrong with the car. Can I just get them to look at it before it runs out??
Thanks

This is really down to the discretion of the dealer.... most will refuse to service your car unless the indicator is within 1000 miles of the next service.

You can book it in for an inspection, however they may charge you for this service.

Seriously!! I think the first oil change was at 11,000 so that still leaves a gap of 14,000 miles to now without anyinspection even though it states 2 years or 25,000 on the tlc for 1st inspection, they can still refuse?? thats typical bmw madness. At my rate of mileage the car will be at least 3 years old before it has its first inspection.I thought the service indicator was always reset to 9000 miles or am I wrong??

You may qualify for a service on a time basis - best just to check with your dealer.

It does not always reset to 9000, the first service interval is 10000, the 15000 to Inspection 1, then 10000 again.

Oil Service - 10k miles
Inspection 1 - 25k miles
Oil Service - 35k miles
Inspection 2 - 50k miles

My Service Interval Counter showed 15500 until Oil Service after it was reset following the Inspection 1 Service.

After the initial Oil Service, why wouldn't the interval between oil changes be consistent

I booked my car in early so that it went in before the warrenty ran out, no problem what so ever. Never questioned it.

Seems a bit stupid for them to refuse!

Which MINI is this for? I'm a bit confused bacause I've just passed 38,000 (mid-04 car, ex-demo if that makes any difference) and I'm showing 3500 till a service? And also I don't think the countdowns on the odometer are strictly related to mileage, mine seems more to do with what type of driving, so on a 100 mile motorway trip it may drop 25 miles till the next service, but 25 miles around town will make it drop 25 miles as well?

As in my previous post, I believe it's approximately 15000 miles between services. Your Service Interval Counter should indicate an Oil Service which will be due around 40K.

The countdown is based on how you drive. Driving in stop and go traffic or tromping on the go-pedal will cause it to decrement faster than cruising on the highway.
