Last TLC service refused

Hi,

My 03 Cooper has done 51700 miles and the service indicator says approx 300 miles to next service....time to book it in for it's last TLC service I thought. However when I've tried to do this, BMW have said no because the car has done more than 50,000 miles.

Problem is that when the car was just below 50k, the service indicator said over 2,000 to go until next service and I know from previous attempts, that BMW won't service it unless the indicator is below 1,000.

So, I waited until it was below 1,000 but this obviously meant that the actual mileage went over 50,000.

Does this sound right for BMW to say no? How can they on one hand say it needs to be below 1,000 on the indicator but then when you wait for this to happen they refuse because the actual mileage is higher than the limit of 50,000?

I thought the whole point of these service indicators was to allow "variable service intervals"?

it's really p!ssed me off so some advice would be great.

Thanks.

Seems crazy to me but i guess they have a leg to stand on as it does say 50,000 miles.

I think if they had an ounce of common sense and customer service...they would honour the service under TLC!!!

I hate to ask this but are you sure you've got any TLC left. The 50k service (Inspection II) is NOT covered by TLC.

As part of TLC you get:

10k 1st oil service
25k Inspection 1
35k 2nd oil service
Brake fluid change at 2 years old.

Check with your dealer as to which service it needs. As stated above they should be honouring it if you still have TLC services left.

I'm amazed you got to 50,000 miles. I think it was about 30,000 or less for me when all the vouchers were used up.

England TLC service refused - Customer service - NONE!

Hi
Booked in my cooper to have its last TLC today at my local dealer - only to be told that I couldn't have it done because it was 2 days older than the 5yr limit, well to say that I was shocked was an understatement so much so that I couldnt really believe what was said.
For a co like BMW to talk about their customer service levels and then to hide behind the small print is dreadful!
I believed that I was ok as it was still within the boundries of the odometer readings <1000mls >300mlseither side of due service?
My dealer has now lost me as a customer for good as they made no effort to help, a simple shrug of the shoulders and an "oh well" attitude said it all!!
I know its only an oil change and I'm happy to do it myself but some common sense and a bit of "customer care" would've kept me happy - C'mon BMW get you act together so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

PS a big thanks(NOT) to BENHAM WOLVERHAMPTON for the lack of customer service!!

regards
Jon

This happened to me only on Monday actually.

When I bought the car, I was sold the TLC policy on the basis that it was "50,000 miles or 5-years of servicing - whichever comes first". So you can imagine my consternation when, after that sales pitch, with 45,000 miles on the clock, I took it in for what I thought was it's last TLC service only to be told that my TLC package had expired and that the service was going to cost £318!

When you think about it: two oil changes, a 25k inspection, and a brake fluid change is still not bad for the initial £100 spent during the build - but I do think they were deliberately misleading in their wording and fine-print.

Anyway, I decided that, for that much money, I'd be better off taking the car elsewhere - any value retained in the car for a full BMW service history is negated by the huge cost of a BMW service.

All the best,
Andrew.

I took my car to the Reading Cherish just before it hits 50,000 miles and the guy was very helpful to make sure I get the last & free oil service done before it hits 50k, even know I still had 7000 miles till the service...

Just company policy these days, there's no common sense anymore.

England Nice Surprise - customer care

Hi
I posted couple of days back how I was refused last tlc service at dealer.
Well I wrote a nice little email to BMW Customer Care when I was back at the PC and today I had a nice mesage to say that they would honour the TLC afterall even though it was out of warranty, they said dealer should have used a bit of common sense (WOW) also they did say that my local dealer would phone me to make an appointment - not heard anything from them yet !
It really does show that indeed MINI customer care does listen to its customers afterall welldone and thanks, you may have just saved the dealer a lost customer.

regards
Jon

England Thanks Benham

Well just to fill in the final bit,
I had my last TLC yesterday oil service all done - I'd like to say a big thanks to James and Rebecca who were very helpful indeed,
Service did find a couple things wrong though

1 - oil leak !
2 - rubber gaiters on front arms need replacing
3 - exhaust rusty

luckily all covered with warranty so booked in to have jobs done.

Today I looked at oil leak as I didnt have one before service ( I looked ) and that all the oil looks and feels like old oil not new was wondering if it could be spillage when they took the filter off? anyone else had a similar exp, Not worried anyhow as I not paying.

Once again thanks to Benham Wolves for doing it right this time.

That is bad.... I took mine last MINI in for the last oil change which was really late and they did it but afterwards said id have to pay for it as it turns out the TLC was expired. They did agree oil cost only though so cant ask for more than that
