We have about a year left on the 4yr/50k warranty is it worth it extending that to 75k or 100k? We got these options from the dealership (prices in USD)

36 months/ 60,000 miles= $1301
36 months/ 75,000 miles = $1395
36 months/ 85,000 miles= $1569
36 months/ 100,000 miles= $1656

We average about 12,000 miles per year so I'd probably go for the 36mo/75k or 85k but then I get to thinking is an extra 25-35k worth $1500 more plus still have to pay $100 deductible every visit. Are there any major problems I should be concerned about that would make this warranty worth it? Normally I do all my own work and never get extended warranties but this car looks like a pain in the ass to work on, we already had an oil pan gasket go and that was $500+ to fix luckily under warranty. Are these cars built to last or do they start to have problems after 50-75,000 miles?

I assume you have the convertible Cooper? If so, and if the extended warranty covers the roof mechanism etc, then I would definitely buy it! I would, if only MINI offered it here in Luxembourg. As it is, I am considering an after-market warranty. If the roof mechnaism goes wrong, it seems to be a very expensive repair......
