alarm malfunction, now non-functional

Cargot broken into a couple of evenings ago, side pass. front
window done in, with damage to a-pillar and b-pillar. window
has been fixed and car was locked with fob, alarm activated.
night after that the alarm went off again, all doors and windows
were closed, but the hood was not closed properly. do not know
if someone managed to trick the hood mechanism and open it and
damage the alarm wiring?? but the alarm would not switch off
when car was locked/unlocked/started with key and fob. it would
sound for 20 seconds, then silent, then sound for 20 seconds.
eventually i opened the motor compartment fuse box when it was
silent, and it didn't make any noise after that. but the car
would not lock with the fob after that, nor with the spare that
we had calibrated to the car, so now have to lock with key only.
no alarm activated.
anyone had/has similar experience, and cause and possible fix
for problem. have spoken to Eastern Mini, and they are a bit
clueless as to what the problem could be and have asked for the
car to be admited, but it's going to be a few weeks as car is
needed and also going to go for insurance repair on pillars for
a few days.
anyone have any idea???

Hey,
just a note: the alarm will sound if the bonnet is not closed properly... It has some detector in there somewhere.
