Cleaning Interior

I have had my mini one a couple of months now, and I have been wanting to clean the interior. What are the best cleaners to use on interior plastics, that wont damage, look horrible. And what should I use for cleaning the fabrics, like mats and seats?

Also when I first got my car from the dealership it smelt really good for many weeks. How do they put that scent in there? Is that a cleaning product they have used or have they hidden some kind of air freshner somewhere? And what can I use to get the freshness back?!

Thanks

Matt

They are many products to clean the interior of your mini. I use Autoglym product which are really good. I use Vinyl & Rubber Care for the door cards and dash and it leaves it with a shine and a nice smell. Make sure you hoover first and then clean second. I use autofresh which leaves a nice smell. The smell which you get with a new car is the new car smell. it will dissappear soon. Alot of users on this website use meguiars. Go to halfords and have a look, there is loads of products you can get.

Another user of Autglym Vinyl and Rubber care, very versatile product, but tend to clean the plastics before hand with Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner. Also I apply by spraying the product onto a cloth as opposed to straight onto the dash to avoid marking it.

Autoglym do a complete range of car care products, their interior cleaner shampoo is excellent diluted with warm water in a wet & dry vacuum. I`ve used many cleaning products in the trade over many years and always found autoglym products to be one of if not the best on the market. Maybe seen aa a little expensive, but well worth the money.

Autoglym is good because it's easy to get hold of as well. Gave my interior a thorough going over today and found I used almost exclusively Autoglym products.

Autoglym is well worth the money!

Over the years I have tried all sorts of products as I like to keep my car clean and tidy inside and out. I keep coming back to Autoglym as they really 'do what is says on the can'. I have a cupboard full of the stuff..!!

For the interior, I first get rid of the cr@p with my Dyson, wipe everything down with 'Interior Shampoo' and then wipe over with 'Vinyl & Rubber Care'. It only needs doing every few months and it leaves the car looking good & smelling fresh.

I also occasionally apply 'Leather Care Cream' to the side bolsters on my Chilli Pack seats and any small creases seem to reduce. Hopefully, it will stop new ones from appearing as well...

Oh! And I am often abused for being a 'car cleaning nut' but I usually have the last laugh when time comes to trade the car in.........

Cheers guys! Some helpful suggestions there. Autoglym seem to be the products to use, a trip to Halfrauds it is then. Is there anywhere online that does it cheaper?

Start cleaning the car interior by vacuuming the seats, floor mats and floor carpeting. To clean floor mats, take them out and if they have carpet tops, simply vacuum. For rubber mats, fill a bucket with water and add 2 or 3 drops of all-purpose cleaner. Dip in a stiff-bristled brush and scrub, then rinse the mats until the runoff is clear and let them air-dry.
To clea the seats you can choose between upholstery cleaning and a soft-bristled brush, vinyl cleaner and a rag, or saddle soap and danmened sponge.
