Everyone will have there own what works best at the moment i'm using megs gold class to wash, then some Chemical guy's Jetseal (to get the deep wet look) then finish off with some Chemical guy's 50/50 concourse wax works for me A world for detailers... is a good resource good luck and get some pics up when you've detailed your car

I use:

Meguiars Detailer Shampoo
Meguiars Clay Bar
P21s wax
2 Gritguard buckets
Lambswool mitts
and a few other specialist bits for wheels etc

I use that on my MINI and my VX220, which produced this:

well ive tried autoglym, meguiars & p21S, but i have found a new wax by dodo juice. Its a 2 part system you polish the car with some stuff called lime prime & this gets rid of all the impurities on the paint. the you wax it, there a number of waxes to choose depending on the colour of you car, i personally use purple haze which is for dark cars. I have a black mini & it gives it a deep wet look shine.it not cheap, but it lasts for ages see websitebelow

Elbow grease is the correct answer, but it's slightly more complicated than that. You could have the most expnsive wax in the world, but if you don't throughly clean your paint firtst, then it's pointless using it.

Wash, clay bar, cleanser/cleaning fluid/polish, THEN and only then, Wax.

You don't need to do the full cleansing/claying every time you wash, but maybe twice a year.

I've used the Swissol range for years and despite the cost (costs about £130 for the starter kit), I've yet to find anything that beats the shine you get.

I've also recently invested in a Porter Cable to get rid of all the swirls etc.

I've yet to do my Mini yet, but here's a few examples of my old cars...

The TT at various mileages - including a close up of the bonnet to show no swirls.

And here's a before and after shot of the old A4 bonnet after my first go at the Porter Cable:

The pics aren't great as they were with my old 1MP phone, but you can see how the lights flare on the first one because the surface isn't smooth, but on the second one they're much clearer. And this was on a car that was 6 years' old and at 110,000 miles.
