Strange problem with central locking

Hi all

Recent picked up my first mini, a 2001 cooper, however have a strange problem with the central locking. On the passenger side the door will lock with the remote but will not open, I have to use the interior door handle to open the door. I have also tried the switch inside the car but again will lock but not open. Has anyone had a similar problem?? Cheers

I've been having this problem with my drivers door. I searched on mini2 and found it reported to be with the door lock mechanism.
So I ordered a new one for £56 and spent an evening fitting it. Needed to remove the door card and
glass to get at it. Problems gone and the door locks and unlocks properly.
