Tar Remover

Hi
I am wondering if someone can shed some light on which product is best for removing tar from my mini!
I have always used Meguiars since getting my mini last March for washing and polishing but have noticed recently some small tar marks mostly on the back of my mini.
Having had a look at what I can use to get rid of these, I see Meguiars have two products, the clay bar which is mentioned a lot on this forum and the bug and tar remover!
The bug and tar remover looks a lot simpler to use, just spray and wipe but does it really work?? I don't want to be wasting my time and money!
Please Help?!?

The bug and tar remover works well!

Put a bit on leave it to soak in then wipe clean.

it can also be used on stubborn brake dust on wheels!

Im going to clay my car over summer when the weather is better but for the being wax and some work on little bits of tar is fine.

Thanks for the advice, think I will try the bug and tar remover first and build up courage to go for the clay over summer when the days will be warmer (hopefully)

If you use Tar Remover, make sure you don't leave it on too long as it works by melting the tar, but once it works into the tar, the tar will run and then subsequently dry meaning it's a PITA to remove it.

I use autoglym tar remover.

Yeah, I used the bug and tar remover over the weekend on my wheels. It needs a bit of time to soak and a bit of elbow grease but it does remove!!

Next time you see those £1 bug and tar wipes in a cheapo shop give them a try.

My dad brought some home from Aldi once. I told him he shouldnt have wasted his money but it turned out they were very good. Wrap one wipe round your finger and scratch gently at the tar piece if the worst comes to worst.

Honestly, your best bets at removing tar is by using either Autoglym ITR or getting a hold of Autosmart Tardis.

I personally use Autosmart Tardis, it's really strong and once applied you can literally watch the tar dripping off the paint...trust me its good. You can get a hold of the stuff through Polished Bliss - Car Care Products - Car Care Advice - Detailing Services within their 'clean' section of the 'car care products' section

Hopes this helps, just my 2 pence

Tardis is good, it's what the pro detailers use.

Actually, time to order some more products for summer I think!!

Autosmart tardis seems to be the dogs dangleys, getting some soon, as ive a BMW X5 to detail and I just know the sides will be covered in tar! Autoglym is ok, but the bottles tiny if doing other peoples cars! Someone in porsche club suggested whie spirits! Meguiars also do a 1 US gallon sized bottle of body solvent for removing tar, but duno how good it is.
