Finally got around to cleaning the car properly

Got our 54 plate Cooper a few weeks back but not had a chance to clean it properly.

At first glance, it looked OK, but seeing it in the sun revealed just how badly swirled and scratched it really was, below:

So, after a wash and CLay Bar, it was time for the Ported Cable to come out.

This is the same bit of bonnet about 1/2 hour later and while it's not finished at this point, you can see how much better it looks already.

Some time later, after polishing and waxing, here's the same bit of bonnet again:

And, the obligatory finished shots too:

All in all, took me from about 9.30 am to 5.30pm - but the result is worth it.

Also - while doing it, the postie turned up with my new Chrome repeaters:

So I wnet from Black & Orange to Chrome and clear. Also tried Black and clear just to see how it looked. Defintely looked better than black&orange:

Well, the thing about the Porter Cable is that, unlike a rotary polisher, it's orbit is random. It's not impossible to damage your car, but it's certainly harder than with a rotary polisher.

You just have to remember not to put a sanding dic on it...

Ah - you spotted the de-washer mod then...

PS - typical. It's raining today.

Raining, and it's ALL your fault.

I just washed the car too, but that's mere coincidence.

Good effort man, I'm the kind that would just call out the pro-detailers to my MINI if/when I find swirls.

I love it but not enough to get a PC

Nope - left the roof alone. Just gave it a quick wipe.
