The fluid in the resovior should be red in colour and is usually dextron 2 atf (automatic transmission fluid) . Any local car spares shop should sell it by the litre bottle.

The power steering fluid is Pentosin CHF11S, a synthetic hydraulic fluid. Do not use ATF as it's reported that using other fluids will damage the seals.

Going to the dealer is fine if you have the money to pay their prices, i appologise for the mistake it is CHF11S but it is made by various manufactures to BMW spec so try your local car spares shop before paying dealer prices.

its only 11 quid from the dealer, its imperative u check your fluid esp if your mini is a few years old, i have half a litre left if anyones local and wants a top up!
