Offline | Back to black question... Never used this, but my arches etc are looking a bit faded grey, whats the best stuff to get, I have heard the cheap stuff works just as well? Can it just be applied to the arches/trims? Any recommendations, as because its a nice weekend, Im going to give her a good clean ![]() Edit* I have also read that some people use the wheel shine stuff? and this does the same job? ![]() |

Online | Loads of products on the market, but its only when you look at what they do that they start to make sense. The black plastic trim on your car is made originally from oil (all plastic is)... as the sun dries the plastic out, it fades, goes brittle, and looks horrible. What you need to do, it put some natural oil back into the plastic - sounds odd but true. The best thing is to use some oil (cooking will do, but peanut is best as its thinner) and work it into the plastic. You'll get a lovely black shine back. Some people even put peanut butter on their trim to get the same effect - i'd end up eating it all though ![]() If you want to use a product, AutoGlym bumper and trim care is among the best I've used. Its a green goo that contains all the oils to restore shine, and a silicon to seal it in. |

| Perfectionist Cooper S | I personally use the Turtle black in a flash but i have heard the meguiars it good to but more expensive Be very careful about getting it on your paintwork as it makes polishing twice as hard & not so good at the end I peronally use a cloth or a sponge, spray on that & then apply to the plastic but BE VERY carefull You can also use on the heater control/stereo & most of the inside if you like the glossy look I nornally buy from the big asda stores as it under 2quid in there - halfords charge nearlly a fiver for the same stuff I am sure there other stuff & other have other suggestions but thats my perosnal prefence as its does more than just your tyres Turtlewax Black in a Flash 500ml from Halfords Price £4.99 If your interested follow the link - its Halfords but gives you an idea Post your pics when its all clean & shiny Enjoy & good luck |

Offline | Not peanut butter (yuck!) but peanut oil - like sunflower oil - in the cooking oil department of asda, tesco etc! I bought a massive jug of it and only £1.79 lasted me years! Just wipe it on wipe off excess and leave on! ![]() |

| GP 0380 | Heck no, far too messy to apply. Have seen it used on Mini arches before, but it washes off far too easy. Mini's own brand plastic stuff is superb for the Mini's arches, actually makes a difference without staining the plastic or making it fade further in a few weeks time. And its easy to evenly apply. Cant do the peanut oil one as I've a serious peanut allergy. ![]() |
