Who Uses Car Washes?

Bit of a random question, but today, I witnessed a 07 Plate MC Using a Car wash (tut naughty you). And then 5 minutes later, a brand spanker of a Porsche rolls up and goes through!

Is it just me, but who in their right mind would use a car wash at a garage? they pick up stones etc.

Me Personally I think they are no good, but each to their own.

So whos guilty enough to have or do use a car wash?

Sure you can - go to thread tools near the first post and select the poll option.

haha, I was blind today, I could'nt see it! haha.

The only time I've ever used a car wash was for my L reg fiesta when I first passed, But with it being an old car I was not worried. But as for new=ish cars I think its silly to use a car wash

Find a Jet-wash that allows you to pay for what you want (i.e. just water, just suds etc) and has a tap, take your buckets, tools, products - one instant hand carwash....
The hot foam brush is actually quite good for cleaning the underneath of the car - especially in winter with all that horrible salty crud all over the roads.......

I did this for 3 years at a local place (5mins away from home) and it's the norm in Germany (they however are way smarter than us and set up nice big places that have multiple washing bays and plenty of parking space so you can dry, polish, wax, vacuum etc at your leisure.

Now I have an outdoor tap so those days are gone, however if there's another hose-pipe ban it'll be back to the Jet-wash.

Automated car-washes are loads of fun, love them, but only in rental cars.

Cheers, Geoff.

Good Idea there Geoff,

I invested in a jet washer for £40, works just as good as the ones at the hand car wash places you see across the UK.

I still am shocked that some one would take a New Mini or even a Porsche through one of these Garage Car Washers.

Ok........
Sorry but you can't have had a great eye for detail at that point - an automatic car wash will inflict swirls with just one use (it's down to the brilliant scrubbing action of those nice big bristles and the dirt that is still on your car - the rare occasions when I use a carwash for a rental vehicle I can honestly say the car rarely comes out with more than 60% of the dirt actually removed, so mostly it's just being ground into your paint.........just like sandpaper ).

2 years of automatic carwashes and your paint would have been absolutely covered in swirl marks - somewhere in the vicinity of a 12 - 14+ hour job for a professional detailer to correct.

Carwash = swirls every time, but what a ride

maybe it was a good car wash plus im not the sort of person to go over my paintwork each weekend with a microscope but it didnt have any obvious "swirl marks"

Ive clicked rarely as i only use the jetwash but then i should of really clicked never because the poll is for the drive through wash....

Only when i dont have time i use the jet wash, never do anything else.... i saw a 07 plate Porsche cayenne getting washed with the brush in the jet wash part of it, all i felt was.. scratch, scratch.

I took the Shogun through the local car wash - When it was covered top to toe in mud and clay

My ASBO side coming out again

Before you ask, the car wash was about to be shut down, so I don't think anyone else used it Good job too, the car was covered when it went in, and it looked alright when it drove out

A wet dream can only become a reality if you chase it...
