Oil on the dipstick - where ? colour ?

Stupid question, but where should the oil be on a MCS dipstick.

In the user manual it shows a flat one, but we have an orange roundy type with a hatched area from the bottom to half way up the fat rounded bit...

Also if it had an oil service 500 miles ago, what colour would you expect the oil to be - black and smelly ??

TIA

Dean.

I've sort of ended up with two threads following the same thing - but if you havent seen the other one - this is the colour of the oil

Cheers

Dean.

The colour of the oil looks fine, it soon discolours as it mixes with the old oil. The S oil dipstick is notorious for being difficult to read. The oil should be at the top of the hatched area. When it is at the bottom of the hatched area you need to add a liter. Not something I have ever had to do.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
