Service Book Nightmare

Hi
Recently changed my Cooper for a Cooper S at a local garage.
The Cooper S has 28k miles on the clock and is only 4 years old. I was going through all the documents the other day having a sort out.

Rang BMW and got my details to that numberplate put across and was told I had 1 tlc on it until august next year BUT while looking through my car wallet, I couldnt find the service book anywhere. I was confused as Im sure that on the test drive, they guy looked at it and confirmed full MINI history and also mentioned the tlc.

I went to see him the other day and he has searched high and low for it and checked that one of the tech guys hasnt forgot to put it back in the car but unfortunately its nowhere to be found!!

WHAT DO I DO??? They have agreed to order me another one no problems but will this affect my tlc as its a duplicate book?

Also am I correct in thinking that if they get me another book, the previous service info can be filled in by any MINI dealer as its all on a global system?

Thanks. Not sure where I stand and am worrying.

It won't effect the TLC as that is logged against the car on the MINI system

Not sure about them being able to put all the right stamps in the new book though unless they carried out all the services on it as that would be fraudulent possibly

thats the thing but I would have thought they would need the service book to use the tlc as how would they know its not been serviced elsewhere?

I would imagine that I would need to get the dealer who done the original servicing to restamp it

Is a real nightmare and im quite annoyed

Is previous servicing information on the MINI system or dont u know?

Cheers

No the service book is not needed for redemption of the TLC scheme, I've had mine serviced and forgot to take the book and then popped in later on

Well seeing as the dealer has lost it I'd just leave it to them to do the work to get the situation sorted, and not worry so much, enjoy your MINI

They'll find away to get everything sorted and find any records they need

Oh right thats not so bad then...

Only thing is... it wasnt from a MINI dealership!! They havent touched it service wise due to them being aware it has TLC.

They should be sorting me a new service book out touch wood but in terms of getting it updated, im not sure what they are going to do...

Other than that though... loving the Cooper S
