Has anyone noticed how easily the pillars of the Mini swirl?

Had the car detailed today but the pillars look just as bad if not worse than before! They're waaaaaaaay too flimsy!

Always ready for a MINI adventure!

You mean the plastic ones?

You should treat them differently than the metal/glass, because they're high gloss plastic. Be careful.

Well he was a swissvax detailer but still couldn't deswirl them, but the rest of the car is beautiful- truely better than showroom condition as when I picked it up it was swirled (It was brand new).
Downside is that he noticed that it had had some paintwork done to it...

Would that be the rear bumper by any chance?

I told you to take it back to the dealer!

Nope the overspray was noticed on the top of the rear window- *** knows what happened to it, but to be fair you'd never know.

Yes the A pillars swirl up pretty easy. Why couldn't he machine polish the swirls out?

Was it Finerdetails or Carnoisseur Auto Details? they are the closest to you.

There was a risk of the plastic burning- and obviously buggering it.

As Paul said, they are not painted, they are moulded with a mirror finish , so when new are perfect but you need to wash and clean them with care. Products like Scratch X won't work because there is no paint on them to blend and fill as would happen on a body panel.
A decent silicone wax compound will sort them out usually , but new ones don't cost a lot.

Most screen replacement companies like Autoglass will normally fit a new set if they fit a new screen.

It's fine to machine polish the A pillars as long as you know what your doing, I've seen pro detailers do it

just buy spares, you can get them for £10 a pair on ebay and at that price they are cheaper than paying for the detail

To be fair mine look like the the finished pic- I am being picky as they never are 100%, if you bend down to look at them in different ways you will see swirls.
