My side electric windows seem to be always streaky at the front where the wing mirrors are situated.....it appears that water collects here and keeps the windows wet both inside and out if wound down.

Is this the same as you are talking about?

I use Rain-X on the side windows as well as the front and back screens - this seems to help keep them clean, as more of the water simply blows off them...

Not sure if this is quite what you mean, though?

Halfords can supply RainX.

My advice is to ditch the AG window cleaner and buy some Meguiar's NXT window cleaner. It is a far superior product and requires less effort to clean your windows. I would then apply a water-repellent sealant like RainX once your side windows are very clean. The RainX ought to be applied on the exterior surface of the windows only and you need to follow the manufacturers instructions carefully.

The design of the MINI side windows means a pattern of rainwater leaves marks around the front and top edges. RainX ought to reduce this marking quite a bit.

If you want a far better product than RainX then try to get hold of Carlack Glass Sealing kit. It's very hard to find but works better than RainX and lasts much longer. You would only need to clean and seal your windows 2-3 times a year with Carlack. RainX may require 5-6 applications during the year.

I've googled Car-lack, and it seems to be a German company. They do have an online shop, but form some reason they don't appear to accept "modern" payment methods like a credit card or PayPal!

Am investigating further.........

Thanks for all this guys - don't seem to have this problem with the hatch, but it's terrible on the Clubbie for some reason. Will definitely check out those products now!
