Cleaning leather seats

Hi Guys,

I would like to clean the seats in my GP. They are not really dirty but I saw a couple of GP's at Bingley and their seats looked lighter in colour than mine, someone did recomend a cleaner but I failed to make a note of it, its an age thing.

Cheers

Milly

Thanks for the reply I have seen wipes on sale for leather but I have never heard of anyone using baby wipes. I wonder if they are the same? I know there great for getting dog Doo of carpets and cleaning stainless steel bins and cookers.

I use the Meg's all in one treatment. I must say that you can tell the difference straight away, it brightens them straight away.

It is not the cheapest stuff in the world, but then again- If you cant spend money on your pride and joy what the point in starting it at all

Baby wipes are excellent for cleaning leather, better than the leather wipes from Halfords etc in my opinion. Some hide food once a year is recommended too.

I have just found some Connolly hide food in the garage, has anyone used this? I have just done some research and discovered that since 1990 some leathers are treated with water based colours and lacquers. The problem is if you treat a water based one with a traditional hide food, well its not good. So anyone used it, or should I just stop been tight and get my wallet out and buy some new stuff!

A friend of mine is an upholsterer and when i had problems with my settee he recommended using some old fashioned washing powder flakes, either lux or dreft. I mix up a small amount of powder in warm water and gently rub leather and then just wipe clean with plain warm water. It works a treat and doesn't fade the colour of the leather and can be used on fabrics, so ideal for car seats.

Dont use leather wipes!
