| I haven't done this on a MINI yet but here are a few tips...
If you've polished the car after the stone chips appeared, start by wiping over them with some white spirit on a clean cloth or the touch-up paint won't stay put.
If any of the chips have raised edges, carefully polish these out using a fibreglass pencil (Halfords have them). Do as little polishing as you possibly can.
When you touch in the chips, add paint ONLY where paint is missing. You can use a tiny sable brush or even a cocktail stick or toothpick. The brush in a touch-up bottle is always far too big.
Let the paint dry for a few days before the next bit...
Using a tiny dab of T-Cut or a small piece of very, very fine wet and dry paper, polish the touched-in parts perfectly smooth. Again, try to work only on the touched-in spots. be very careful, espcially if your paint is metallic, not to go through it.
Add clear cover if you have it in the touch-in kit and polish this down too - let it dry thoroughly first.
Finish with the wax polish you normally use.
Hope this helps...works for me! |
