Corroding door seals

Just a heads up really, I have an early Cooper (51 Plate) and noticed while cleaning the bottom of the doors that the rubber seals on both doors had corroded.
They are an aluminium strip coated in rubber and it seems the aluminium corrodes and swells up over time,
I've done the drivers one today - it takes 5 minutes and costs about £6.

I'll post up some pictures tomorrow and a part number. Might be worth checking yours if your car is an early one. Left too long it looks like they'll start to let water in or even damage the paintwork in the door shuts.

Yep this issue was found in the states a few years ago. Glad you posted this up to raise awareness though. It effects even R56's and brand new MINIs! Some MINI don't get it at all, like mine. My bf's had it and it was resprayed under the paint warranty by BMW. Its where the water just sits there under the seal and rusts it away! Bad really!

Image isn't great but this is the lower edge of the passenger door, drivers side was the same. Seal former had swollen up to about an inch thick.

New seal is Part number 51337050534 , 1 each side and they cost £6.51 inc vat @ 15%

Hope this is some use.
