Cleaning... Without a Hose..

Morning All,

I need some advice on cleaning the MINI. We live in a flat and unfortunatley we do not have access to a hose, and if i did, well it would have be to a long hose .

I notice other people cleaning cars without a hose and getting a very shiney finish on the cars. They seem to have some sort of spray, which seems very long winded!

You see my usual method of cleaning is rinse (with a hose), shampoo, rinse (with a hose), and then wax and polish. However i have nothing to rinse it with!

So has anyone cleaned without a hose before? Are they any specific products which help cleaning without the use of a hose?

Thanks for any advice .. I need it cleaned for MINI United

cant you just take it to a car wash? it only costs about £3! i got mine shampooed and waxed and it looked brilliant, that was in sainsburys car park for £5, some blokes were going round with little trolleys and cleaning your car for you.

Hi there ! Don't take notice of Porn Star, he ( have to assume its a male with a moniker like that ) really has nothing good to say about anything ! Use a bucket as a rinse but seriously, these new foam washes for £4 - £6 cannot be beat cos they do your underside etc and you can always finish it off yourself after. Nothing like washing and waxing your own car to see if bodywork is deterioating etc !!

I cleaned mine yesterday without a hose.... this is how:

1. Get Some Turtlewax car shampoo with built in wax.
2. Get a big bucket & fill with hot tap or kettle water. (Or 2 if you want to presinse)
3. Wash the Mini, wheels last.
4. Take your 2 empty buckets & fill with cold tapwater.
5. Throw at your car (But keep hold of the buckets)
6. Watch it sparkle.

There is a perfect product for this, its called optimum no rinse (ONR), you wash one panel at a time then dry and move on. I will find a video for you

Umm.. I wouldn't recommend a no water wash for a heavily soiled car.

Try to find a hose if you can but if you can't, you may have to run buckets to get it washed and rinsed. Also, I don't recommend the "mixed" products. Best to shampoo it, dry it and wax it by hand if possible. From start to finish mine takes about 2 hours including a clay bar.

Doesn't this apply to all OEM Mini's. I drive mine 5 miles and its covered in brake dust. Too bad MINI can't figure out how to keep it from crapping all over its self every time you hit the brakes. Maybe for a waterless wash, I should use TP.

The man speeketh the truth, ONR is top. If its good enough for the heads over at detailing world to use then you can bet your bottom dollar it works with no side effects. If it caused the slightest swirls they would go no where near it. Ok if your caked in mud a quick jet wash first would be a good idea but other than that its not a problem.

I've used a sample and i'm well impressed, i'll be making a purchase soon.

Oh and i also live in a top floor flat, my current cleaning process usually either involves driving to my sisters to clean the car (of the G/F parents)
OR sometimes go to the local buy time jet wash its got to be a buy time so you can just use the water without and of the c**p soap but take your two buckets (yeah i drive there with them full...very slowly ), wash mitt, wheel cleaner, QD and drying towel ok you WILL get funny looks and lots of comments but that's just how it is.

BTW i get 2x3mins at the jet wash use one to rinse and clean the wheels etc, then wash the car with your buckets, then use the other jetwash to rinse, then dry it off

Simon.
