DIY MINI Mechanic in Boston MA area

Hi,

I have a 2005 MINI Cooper, and it has suddenly started giving me some issues, has trouble starting in the morning, power steering went... anyhow I ma looking for a mechanic in the Boston MA area that has experience working on MINI's. I don't really want to take to the dealer because I know they will charge me more.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

my issues are as follows:
1.For the past 2 weeks or so my car doesn't start on the first try in the morning, I turn the key it makes a noise as if it is trying ot stat but then dies and then I try again and it starts.
2.Last week, I couldn't get my trunk to open, neither the key or the interior unlock switch worked- then 2 days later it works again
3. Tuesday my power steering totally went, so now I have no power steering

The conclusions I have been able to draw are:
1. possible battery issue, so I am testing the battery with a load tester tonight
2. Alternator failing: Even though I am told that when the alternator goes it goes completely it doesn't work a little and then die. And that if it was the alternator I would have gotten a light on the dash indicating failure and then all the systems start sending warning lights because the car would be going into a limp home mode. I have no indicator lights going on at all.
3. power streering pump is shot and when that was on the way out it caused some strange current draws that is what lead to all the other issues.

Oi, you got a few issues there.

1. Mine is doing something similar and I outlined it in the other post. No fix yet, but I am leaning towards the fuel pump.

2. This to me sounds like it might be a BC1 issue. There have been reports of water getting in them and causing them to act up. Simply drying it and resealing it seems to fix a lot of them.

3. That one is pretty clear....
