Cooper S service manual, broken dipstick

I have a 55 reg cooper S and I'm looking for a service manual.

The only one I found via google was $109 (about 65 quid) : Mini Cooper Repair Manuals - MINI Cooper Service Manual: 2002-2006

Any suggestions of an alternative, better and/or cheaper would be appreciated.



Alternatively, I'd like some advice on how to get a broken dipstick out of the tube. The bloody thing's snapped off right at the bend, the top of it is *just* visible pressed against the side of the tube. I'll attempt to remove it with the aid of a long thin screwdriver and a (small) blob of superglue, but failing that I'll need to get the bumper + mounting off and get behind the rad. That's the bit I'd want the manual for.

I'm a tad reluctant to fork out the £410 that my local dealer quoted me to retreive it

Hi, Just had my broken dipstick removed by Technicar in Derby.
Previously been told horror stories about it snapping and all the work involved in removing it but they did it no problem in an hour, think bumper off (which is easy) and it only cost me £35!! Over the moon.
If your local I'd recommend them.

On the manual side, the one that you found is the best out there. The Bentley is a well balanced book that will serve you well.

H7, you're lucky to have an honest mechanic locally. One thing I know for sure is that my MINI won't go to a main dealer mechanic ever again, "standard labour rates" my foot!!
