Help, small scratches on side.. Should I use a scratch remover?

I picked up my new Dark Silver Cooper S yesterday, drove it around town for one day, woke up the next morning to find some fine vertical scratches on the side... I am very mad, I wonder who did it... but anyways... should I use the 3M scratch remover? Anyone have experience with it?

thanks

the scratches are very superficial ... not deep at all, looks like a few white lines going vertically only in the sunlight... if there is no sun, it is not noticieable at all!..

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO t-cut is baaaaad. i use it on my exhaust but thats about it.

what you are referring to sound like 'swirl marks' get yourself an electric buffer that can wax too...apply the wax/polish with one bit and remove it with a buffer piece on the end.

get AutoGlym Paint Renovator or Meguires ScratchX and some AutoGlym Super Resin Polish, these will sort them out if done correctly.

Also, when cleaning try use a microfibre cleaning mit, and microfibre cloths to dry instead of a shammy.

Dont Bother with T-cut, its very old technology where the abrasives do not break down, so it keeps cutting and cutting and cutting at your paint to clear coat and can leave it hazy with fine marks that take another product to remove. Modern alternatives like scratch X have diminishing abrasives so they get finer and finer as you work, which gives a much better finish.

Autoglym SRP is the first choice, very mild but does contain fillers so will mask the remainder, if you use a weak APC (all purpose cleaner, usually household one like from tesco/asda) wash the mark and rinse and dry and re-inspect if its gone.

Next products would be Meguiars Scratch X which is a very good product but has a very short working time. if you apply with a smooth Applicator like the Megs foam ones, its less aggressive than with a Microfibre Cloth. May take more than one attempt, but be looking out for improvement in removing the defect (BMW paint can be very hard). if its along quite a bit of the car, find something that works on once section of it before proceeding. I wouldnt think anything more aggressive would be required.

Hope this helps. Sorry its so long
