Numberplate Advertising

I have just removed the rear numberplate from my 05 MCS which had a small dealer advertising strip along the bottom.
It would appear that the addition of this advertising strip has resulted in the numerplate touching the bodywork on the top and bottom.
This has in turn caused a moisture trap and I now have the early stanges of corrosion showing on the bodywork!

Not happy, to say the least, the car is only 4 years old, Needless to say, I have sent an e-mail to MINI and to the dealer!

I recommend you remove the advertising strip if you have one!

Simon

Apparently it is essential that number plates show the post code of the maker on pain of MOT failure if it is missing. So be careful in removing said advertising strip in case it removes the required post code.

Mine just said...

I thought the name of the plate maker had to be on the plate, not on a stick on strip?

no he means black plastic strip hooked under no. plate VWs have them on, damn cheeky dealers you give them money and they want free advertising on your car with number plates, stickers and tax disc holder, that's why when i get a car any free advertising comes straight off.
