Hi, I hope someone out there can help me. I have recently purchased a 53 Mini Cooper and in the time I have had it, just under a month, it has been back to the garage for the best part of two weeks trying to resolve a problem I noticed just after picking it up. It appears to be making a throbbing noise from the front around 30-40 mph up to about 50-60mph but is not there at 70mph. If you turn slightly left it goes but comes back when going straight or turning right. A friend of mine is a mechanic and he had a look and said it could be a wheel bearing or the tyre, as the left hand side tyre was bald on the inside shoulder. I took the car back to the garage for them to investigate and they said it's the tyre. The tyre was changed so that both fronts are the same, this didn't resolve it. They changed the wheel bearing, this didn't resolve it. They then said it was a drive shaft support bearing, which they changed and I was assured it was cured. I picked it up, still the same. I took it back, had the tracking checked as it was drifting to the left, this was adjusted because it was out slightly, still the same. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? As I say you can drive through it as it is not there at motorway speeds.
