United-Kingdom Scratched trim on my new MINI

Hi All,

Picked up my spanking new Mini Cooper S yesterday morning- had fantastic service from the dealer right from the start and was thrilled to be driving my sparkling silver beast at last. However when I sat in the passenger seat for the first time I noticed a scratch on the dashboard trim above the glovebox- it's a 2 inch long diagonal line- like the plastic's been scored with a knife or something. Now I'm sure there's no way I could have done it but obviously I've signed to say the car was fine before I drove it away. Also it really is a very minor blemish in the scheme of things so perhaps I'm being too fussy? Would just have liked my mini to be pristine for at least one day! So can anyone recommend a decent interior plastic cleaner/restorer that might make it less noticable? Also is it worth mentioning to the dealer (who has been excellent) and is a piece of dash trim something that can be replaced easily and relatively cheaply? Just to be clear it's the dark grey textured plastic strip which extends from above the glove box then behind the bottom of the speedo. Any input or advice much appreciated from an otherwise delighted new mini owner.

erm brand new car, scratch?! get the dealer to sort it out asap! the car should be *mint* when you get it, I had a few issues with mine; wrong colour seats, busted fuel pump, dealers have sorted it out as a top priority which im pleased with! try it!

yes, dont just fret about the damage, go and speak to the dealer. If they have anything going for them they will rectify for you. Whats the worst they are going to say NO!

Thanks chaps. Went back to the dealership this afternoon and they're gonna sort it out. Don't know if that means a replacement trim or if they have some miracle means of removing the scratch but they were very helpful. Should be resolved within a week or so. Still found myself apologizing though- very British

Spiceman go back to the dealer and let us know how you get on!
