Hmm, thanks Deep 27a, I googled this service manual and I was getting several Rapidshare links but I don't have Rapidshare and I wanted to hear from you guys if these were valid links or not before purchasing/installing this software to download the manual...apparently they are not valid ones according to you, right ?

I know the rapidshare ones you mean, I wouldnt trust them however. From my past experience you will get more than the manual if you download one from there!
! Yes, Deep_27a, I thought as much ! So, is it that expensive one by Bentley Publishers (or something like that) which is the only service manual about ? So no kind soul has put up his/her copy on the net for all and sundry to share, I guess ? (well, I don' blame him/her for not doing so if he/she paid for it we can't expect it to be made available online for all and sundry to download for free).
Thank you to brinks for your offer to scan the odd page of the manual should I need it.
Thank you to mab01uk for those useful links.
You are all a helpful lot out there on Mini2 ! I am missing one fundamental thing to be a fully-fledged member though : the car !! Yes, last month I was on my way to put a deposit on a 2003 red Cooper S when the damned dealer phoned to tell me that he sold it ! He didn't even have the decency to tell me that someone else was really close to buying it so that I would have speeded up the proceedings ! I still have not found another one yet. There's a problem with a dual licensing system here in Malta (i.e. one which is the cheap engine capacity-based one for cars registered before 01/01/09 and the other is the ultra-expensive emissions-based one for cars registered after 01/01/09) and after missing out on that red Cooper S, I just can't find another one with the cheap license !!
Still, all this wealth of information you people are providing me with will no doubt come in handy when eventually (I hope !) I'll get myself the Mini that I'm after...

Good one , brinks, looks like you've been to Malta before to know about our atrocious roads! I think I need to have my head examined for wanting a Cooper S on 17" wheels as my daily drive. I already have a 2005 AP2 Honda S2000 on 17" wheels as a weekend car and when I drive it I feel like I'm in a dodgem car weaving all over the roads to avoid the pot holes !
Tx. Looks good. Pity I didn't see it before now. I now have the car, an electronic manual and a Haynes manual...all Ineed is to hijack a petrol bowser...man, the petrol consumption on the Cooper s is atrocious..it's either that or there must be something wrong with my right foot !
