DIY Front Bumper Help!

Hi All,

Its a long story but due to new neighbours, i now have a hole in my front bumper on my White Cooper S (58 plate).

Ive been quoted £800 by Berry of Chiswick to replace which i think is quite a lot! Does anyone know if this is about right?

Also, im looking to see if anyone knows any local garages which specialise in Minis/ BMWs in the West London Area who might be able to do a good job but cheaper?

Or any other ideas?! (im not too good at these things myself so scared to attempt to do it!)

Cheers.

If not an insurance job and bumper not repairable, I would track down a good secondhand replacement bumper in the same colour and fit it diy or using a good local garage/bodyshop, which will be far cheaper.

For used bumper try ebay or:
Mini Spares UK - Home
or

or for new:

Thanks all, sorry for late reply. Any DIY guides on here or elsewhere as to how to fit it?

haha, £800 thats a **** take. get a bumper off ebay/mini spares or someone and replace it yourself. it takes little over an hour first time.

Hello, I got the same kind of quote from my nearest Mini/BMW body shop today:
- 250 for the bumper
- 350 to paint
- 70 for the grille
- 150 for the bumper metal support bar if needed
- 40 labour charges

This would end up costing around 860. What annoys me is you can get the full JCW aero kit for the R56 for 1100 painted. It would take 3 days apparently :S - not sure why when they could spray the bumper and fit it separately.

Im not sure whether to just get a genuine one off ebay for like 130 and then get someone else to paint it (i can also get the grille for 30 of ebay). My worry is the colour matching the rest of the car, and whether finance company cares if repairs are done by mini or not.

How did you fix yours in the end? Just stump up the 800 in cash or used another solution?
