Service showing too soon?

Hi there,

I took my Mini Cooper D in for it's first service yesterday at 12,000 miles. They changed the oil and filter. Now when I start the car it tells me my next service is due in 6000 miles, or 09/2011. Is that right to be so soon??

Is it actually telling you a service is due, or some other maintenance? For example, that 6000 miles may be the estimated distance until brake pads need replacing.

I think you need to scroll through the maintenance menu to see what is causing the 6000 mile warning. I would tell you how, but I have to look it up in the manual each time!

I know what you mean, I've scrolled through each one at it says break pads 25k or something like that, then a few others at a similar mileage. It just shows the car symbol on its own when it flashes up at 6000 miles.
