Stupid I know - but how do I disconnect the battery

I cannot hear my cd's playing, although I know they are playing as the track numbers are coming up on the screen, and the radio is working fine.

I have been advised to reconnect the battery for a few hours, and then reconnect it again, as this should solve the problem.

Apparently the cd player should reset itself?

Problem is I have never disconnected a battery before. ( I guess I should say I am a female who doesnt have a clue) !!!!!

I have opened and closed the bonnet in defeat.
Any advice in the simplest of terms would be great.
Thanks Lynn

Here goes....!!!!

Pop the bonnet.... the battery is towards the back of the engine bay on the right hand side under a black plastic box. You'll see thick red wires running into it. there are 3 plastic clips to release, then lift the lid off the top. You'll be able to see the battery and terminals on top of it. With a size 10 spanner or socket, loosten the nut on top of the terminal ( no need to take it fully off ) then pull the terminal from the battery. Remove the + first to prevent sparking

Criteria for buying a diesel..1)long journeys.2)motorway miles.3)minimum 14k mls per yr..

Remove NEGATIVE - terminal only.

Also if you can't see battery in engine bay, it may be in boot, it depends which model you have

Thanks so much !!

Just want to say thank you to everyone for their help (especially to 3bars for your step by step guide).
I will give it a try at the weekend,as by the time I get in from work it is too dark to see what I am doing.

I will let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed !!
