Coolant change

Hi guys I have a 053 2005 reg mini Cooper s jcw it's only got
11,500 miles on the clock and I was wondering is it
Worth doing a coolant/antifreeze change yet?
Looking at the service book don't think it's been
Done yet and think it's every 4 years interval for changing it
Just wondered with so few miles on clock if it needed yet??
Oil and brake fluid has been done
Cheers Michael

To be honest with you, it sounds like you have
a lovely car.
If you going to do it yourself, why not?
In my opinion, you cannot 'over look after' your car!
For example, I change my Mobil 1 oil every 12 months and
in only do 6,000 miles a year.
If you love your car, treat her well!

yes im going to do it myself and has you say cant hurt!!
its a very clean car and has been mistaken for brand new!!!
one lady owner from new and think she did about 1500 miles a year in it
will post pics for you guys to comment.

just one more thing is it safer to use distilled water when mixing with coolant,im guessing yes, also halfords sell 5 ltrs of deioninsed water for £3.99 i think it is,is this just has good??

I can't see a problem with distilled water, go for it!
Just be careful you don't get any air trapped in the system
when you change the coolant.
I've heard it can be a bit of a pain, if you do.
Can't wait to see the pictures by the way!

change the coolant, there is a reason they specify a number of years and not a millage, because regardless of the millage the corrosion protection gets reduced over time, so even if you test the coolant for it's antifreeze levels and it seems ok it still should be replaced

you should not need to use distilled water unless the local water is of an exceptionally poor quality
