DIY Crank sensor seal oil leak idea

Hi, my wife's mini has lost it's oil, having taken a good look on the forum (and others),and then a look under the car, I am now 99% sure it's the crank sensor seal (lots of oil blow back, having cleaned it all up and topped up the oil it is not leaking whilst stationary), I have purchased the seal and will do the job shortly but wondered if anyone has used a product like Wynn oil leak stop (add to the oil and it swells/returns moisture to seals, it takes 200-300 miles to do its job, was going to do an oil change after/if it stops the leak. If it works as they describe this could/should sort out the common leaks.
I am going to give it a try unless its been done before and caused issues.
Advice always welcomed and heeded

A friendly local mechanic has offered to fit the new crank sensor/seal for me this weekend
best part is he will do that and a coolant flush and top up for 30 quid! (I will supply the coolant and parts etc)
I wonder if its worth putting in the wynns as a preventative for the other seals that must be getting on a bit as well (the car is 10 years old after all).

I suspect a crank sensor leak on mine. Oil over the sump but it appears it is coming down from the front of the engine. No leaking when still and after topping up a month ago the level hasn't dropped at all - very strange.

That seems a good price, is it just a case of removing the bumper and pulling the rad forward to get to it?

From what i have read that is the case, My friend came over today and we did the fluids oil and water and added the wynns oil leak stop, will be giving the car a good run tomorrow to see if we got it sorted. Gonna post elsewhere to ask about running temps as had obd2 on and temp sat in low to mid 90c range not sure what it should be.

That is spot on. My scangauge stays at 90-94 and I have read that is normal. When stuck in traffic it creeps over 100 and the fan kicks in.

Shows how rubbish the temp gauge in the car is though - when the needle reaches the half way point the temp is still only in the 60s!

It's mental that the cars don't have a temp gauge in the dash (or is that just due to having the GPS), think obd2 and phone are gonna be best friends for a while yet .
