Offline | Paintwork protection - Supagard anyone?? I've just ordered a new mini cooper and the dealer was trying to sell me one of these paintwork protection systems. It's called Supagard and is made by Waxoyl, on paper it sounds great, interior and exterior protection, 3 year guarantee etc. Is this stuff any good or is it just another nice little earner for the dealer?, has anyone out there used this particular product? dodgylogic |

| Bad Dog, Moderator | It's just a (very) high profit item for the dealer. You're better applying a good quality wax or polymer yourself every few months. Having the "paint protection" done at the dealer is basically just paying him a ton of $ to have an untrained, $6.00 per hour flunkie give your car a bad (swirl inducing, paint scratching) wax job. Do a search on "paint protection" if you want more than one (strong) opinion. gromit hates to see MINI friends get ripped off Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. Offline | All the MINI's are waxed in the body cavities from the factory. Check out the UK MINI site. 2002 MCS, DS/B/BBS, Sport, Prem, Cloth, 17's 1969 Morris Cooper MK2, Tartan Red/Black, 998cc, Twin HS2's |

Offline | I chose Dura Seal as a dealer option - supposed to be somesort of DuPont Teflon coating on the paintwork. I got this applied as I don't garage my car and the area I currently live has a lot of stuff in the air (factories and stone masons) as well as the high UV levels down here in NZ, thought I better try and protect it somehow. One thing about it is you can't polish your car (which can benefit the lazy) and you don't need to use detergent on the car - just water and a sponge. This has a 3 year warranty. The interior was also Durasealed - this is similar to scotch guard and has a 5 year warranty. 2002 MINI Cooper S 1966 Mk1 Mini |
