Engine management warning light.

Hi,

Would like some advice if possible........

Ok this is the situ,

Coolant temperature sensor failed, and the rad fan kept on cutting in.
To start with no warning symbols came on.
Replaced the sensor, and the fan is now operating normally.
But.....the day before I changed the sensor the EML lit up.
I thought it was due to the sensor but now fixed it cant be.
Tried in vain to do a reset via the stalk and auxiliary controls but cant.
I have disconnected the battery for around ten minutes (as read on the net) to do a hard reset then if it was the sensor it would not light up?
Done this but the EML is still lit, can anyone advise the next move as I dont want to go to BMW.
Car running fine.

Cheers,

Andy.

What year is your Mini?
The EML light often comes on with raised exhaust emissions, very often it is just an Oxygen/Lambda sensor failing or out of range as they age.......any garage that does MOT's should be able to test your emissions and indicate what is at fault or read the fault code.
