Price Cut of Oil Filter

I bought an oil filter on August 28, 2002 when my Mini hit 4,200km and it costed me HK$90 (US$11.5). I bought another one this afternoon for the next oil change at 8,400km. It costs me only HK$61 (US$7.8). The price falls 32% in only 4 months. What a drastic deflation! Or BMW is too shameful to charge us too much in the past.

It could be that the oil filter manufacturer was able to finally meet demand.

If this is the case, the price of Mini will be adjusted downward when the supply meet demand. What a good news! But wait a miniute, will BMW want to see that? Lowered price or increased output?

Is there a "generic" equivalent

Is there a purolator or fram equivalent yet? I live 60 miles from our nearest MINI dealer.

Retroom,

Which dealership did you get yours from? I'm looking to change the oil pretty soon myself and I'm in the area. Did you buy your oil there as well?

Gas O,

I bought the filter at Mtn. View Mini, in Mtn View. Go into the MINI dealership not the BMW parts dept.

I just bought the filters on Tuesday.

No, I'm using Mobil 1. Bought the oil on sale for 3.99 a quart a while ago at Kragens. They have it on sale periodically.

Purolator has a MINI filter out but I haven't been able to find it where I live. The part number is L15465.
