Smoke from bonnet when stationary

Hi ,
I have a mini cooper s 2008 r56 and just got a 60k servicing done a couple of months ago. The dealer said there was a small leak in the oil section but not serious.
Lately when standing stationary at a traffic light the car starts smoking from the bonnet . This is after the first 10-20 min of driving the car that day. I checked the oil level before driving and it was a bit above the maximum.
In my garage I have a huge black stain so prob pointing to an oil leak? Or could it be something else.
Another thing is that when I come back home there is a bit of a burning smell coming from the car. I am not a car expert does anyone have an idea what is goin on exactly?

Yes, yes,yes and yes to all of the above, the oil stain in your garage should have really told you that you have a leak....unless you have knocked over a pot of black paint !!!

It sounds like you have a bit more than a small leak. I would suggest getting it looked at at an independent garage (a lot cheaper than BMW) to find out where the leak is coming from sometimes it can be an easy cheap fix. After getting it fixed I would get the whole engine cleaned off or you will get the smoke & smell for a while after

Yes you have an oil leak it sounds like its dripping onto the hot exhaust causing the smoke and burning smell....don't leave it get it fixed.
