Yellow Cooper Best Type of Oil for 2002 Mini Cooper

I have recently bought a 2002 Mini Cooper,
it has 117,000 miles on it.

I checked the oil and noticed that it was a bit low (dealer just changed it) and I was wondering what would be the best type of oil to get for it,
Should I go with the Redline 5w-30 that I have noticed is highly recommended?

Or should I go with a recommendation from ehow.com?
" Castrol Syntec 5W-40

Syntec, made by Castrol, meets several of the criteria for ACEA standards and BMW LL ("LongLife") standards, including ACEA A3/B3 and BMW LL98. BMW's LL system relates to the longevity and functionality of the oil. In practical terms it means that you should drain and replace your car oil every 15,500 miles for LL98 vehicles and every 18,300 miles for LL01 vehicles, as explained by ACEA.

Valvoline SynPower 5W-40

Valvoline's SynPower meets BMW's main requirements, including the critical LL01 standard and A3/B3 requirements. Make sure you perform an oil change every 18,300 miles. This oil does not comply with LL01 in the BMW range, so avoid using it in models of the Mini Cooper that specify LL01-compliance."

I have noticed that Amazon.com recommends Royal Purple.

Thanks for any input.

Just to be on the safe side I change mine every 3000-5000 miles, royal purple is the bees knees however with higher milage, you may want to look into 0w-30, or redline 5w-30. As long as it follows the LL you should be ok.

Yeah these oils are very good for Mini,s every model.I used the Red line i my Mini cooper and changed the oil after every 3000 miles. So it gives me a perfect drive and and i have no issue with its mileage. So i recommend you to use that oil.Its of a better quality.
