Hi, new to the forum, asking for my hubby. We recently got a 2007 Cooper, and he is asking if it's best on fully synthetic oil and what grade? Or what would you recommend?
Any fully synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-30 or 0W-40 oil with ACEA A3/B3 and BMW LL-01 certification is recommended,
especially if the car is still under warranty.
Usually that means:
MINI (Castrol) 5W-30
Castrol Syntec 5W-40
Mobil 1 0W-40
Valvoline SynPower 5W-40
Valvoline MaxLife 5W-30
There may be others that meet the specs, especially in different parts of the world.
(These are the USA market names - yours may differ, so go by the specs)
in the USA group III dino oils are legally labeled synthetic, some of which cristo listed. there are very few REAL group IV + V oils on the market. not sure if this law change pertains to other countries. lots to read + learn on oil forums for sure!
