Hi all

Anyone using Motul Engine Oil?

I have never heard of it until today when I was in an Auto Shop enquiring about the price for them to do an oil change for me. He swears by Motul for all the high performance engines he works on (supports the local rally and racing boys, strictly a hard core performance shop).

Says the WRX boys love it.

I was going to use Amsoil or Mobil 1, apparently Amsoil is near impossible to get in Australia, and he just laughed when I mentioned Mobil 1.

Any thoughts ??

Not very popular in the States, and is rare. But I've heard it is one of the best oils.
I would use it, but its expensive at least here.

What about you Euro Mini Drivers ??

This oil is made in France after all, surely is more common over there.

Motul was recommended for Ducatis many years ago (some kind of relationship b/w the two companies.) I used it and it always looked like crap after use. Black and sludgy.

So for entirely subjective reasons I stopped using it and started using Mobil 1, which at least *looked* better after use. No noticable difference in engine performance.

Not very helpful, but more helpful than the gent who laughed off Mobil 1. Mobil is given grudging respect even by their competitors so I can't imagine the reason for his response.

In your position I'd use either Amsoil or Mobil before using Motul. HTH, Jeff
