Small oil leak which garage think is from crankshaft seal, big bill if the engine has to come out. If I leave it and just top up oil as needed will I cause any lasting damage to engine?
I think you just have to take off the crank pulley and lower the engine a little to replace the crankshaft seal.
If it's the one on the transmission side, then quite a bit more work to get to it.
Gearbox out If it's the rear one, and I wouldn't leave it long if it's known to be leaking
