My Xenon lighs have become quite fuzzy and dark. The High beam is as "light" as the Low beam used to be.
The Mini is 5 years old - a new original pair seems to cost over 1,000 euroes. I changed the Xenon bulbs a month ago (aftermarket but same Watt / colour with original). I also cleaned the headlights from outside with a special kit, but they still look fuzzy.
The bulb wont make it look fuzzy, that will be down to the lens or reflector I would have thought?
Have they got damp inside now? or maybe if they have been allow to mist up inside because the seal wasnt fitted correctly at the back it might leave a residue on the inside of the lens even if they have dried out now??
Not sure about the headlight units on your model of MINI, but on the Gen 1 R53 with the factory HID/Xenon headlights (with the Chilli Pack), only the low/dipped beam is a HID bulb, the main beam is a standard (halogen) H7 bulb.
When you remove the rear cover and bulb assembly on some headlamp units you can actually get something in to clean the inside of the headlamp glass. Otherwise if you have got a serious problem with dirt/condensation residue on the inside of the headlamp you may have to replace the whole unit or attempt to disassemble the glass from the rear of the headlamp housing. Some headlight units are held together by a series of metal clips around the perimeter of the glass others are glued together. It is possible to seperate the glued on glazing but you need to take care and be patient as you work your way around breaking the join.
i think the guy above is right i have seen minis with the inside of the headlamp round the projector painted in the cars body coulor so im shore that the head lamps can be taken a part some how
